Hello!
My name is Rachel and I am a 30 year old mom and wife living out my childhood dream of being a wedding photographer. Before we had kids my husband, Payton, and I decided to fly to as many places as we could afford. We sipped Spanish wine, jumped off the rocky cliffs of Santorini, slept on trains as we toured the Italian countryside, biked along the coast of Andalusia, and in a Parisian cafe Payton learned that macaroons are in fact not colorful hamburgers. Now, our days are mostly spent chasing down the ice cream truck, telling Alexa to play Frozen on repeat and running nightly races around our living room. And we would both agree that this is the most fun we’ve ever had.
Personally, my self control is the lowest when I have a bag of dark chocolate chips in hand or when standing in the check out line at H&M. I will never turn down cheesecake or a new pair of glasses. I didn’t start enjoying coffee until last year when sleep regressions, busy toddlers, and a full editing queue finally did me in. Now it is hard to go a day without a Starbucks white chocolate mocha or iced caramel frappe. I am a people pleaser with a good dose of perfectionism who relies daily on the grace of Jesus.
I could talk your ear off about the beautiful man I get to do life with but I’ll try to keep it short. Payton is a hopeless romantic whose glass is always more than half full. On every month anniversary he writes me a love note or poem. One time he drove an hour in a blizzard to bring me an oreo Mcflurry and to keep it from melting, turned the air conditioning on in his car the whole drive. He loves Jesus with his whole heart, serves others selflessly and raps math songs to his middle school students. I hope Zion, Roman and our newest baby grow up to be like him in every way.
I have been photographing weddings since 2011. My editing style is natural and true to color. I value connection, color and consistency. My goal on a wedding day is to be as behind the scenes as possible while also directing and posing whenever necessary. I want to deliver timeless, people focused and emotion evoking images that will never go out of style (and way more of them than you would ever need). I am nearly 300 weddings in and this job has taken me from the rocky shores of Lake Como, Italy to the intimate Michigan backyard barbecue to the pristine dunes of White Sands, New Mexico and everywhere in between. I will never stop being grateful that I get to do this for a living.
