This winter anniversary session with Ben and Janie was especially close to my heart—thirteen years ago, theirs was one of the very first weddings I ever had the honor of photographing. To reconnect and document this chapter felt both nostalgic and deeply full-circle.
To celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary, we designed an editorial-inspired studio session at Somewhere Haus Studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The space was transformed with rich, jewel-toned draping florals by Pinna Co. that added depth and artistry. A lush green velvet backdrop created a striking contrast against the florals, allowing each moment to feel both intimate and refined. At the center of the celebration was a stunning champagne tower—an elegant nod to their wedding day. Pretty Petal Papers designed a stationery suite with green detailing and elegant fonts and Hailey Brinks Media captured iphone content.
A long-sleeve satin dress from Dearly Bridal, paired with delicate fur heels and a chic fur jacket added a touch of winter sophistication. Glamorous Hollywood curls by Sarah Harris Studio and soft glam by Faith Forcier Creative completed Janie’s look. Ben complemented her perfectly in a classic black suit, creating a look that was both timeless and effortlessly polished. Together, their style embodied a modern take on classic romance.
Throughout the session, we reminisced about their wedding day and all that has unfolded since—thirteen years of marriage, growth, and a life beautifully built together. Sessions like this are a reminder that your story doesn’t end at “I do.” In many ways, it’s only the beginning.
